The Functions Of Art As Defined For One's Own Purpose

Here are some etchings by Picasso. The inspiration is a bull.  For Milton Glaser, these became a thinking platform for him to investigate his own thinking about drawing and style and about the functions of art as he defines it for his own intentions.

For me, this outlook is a necessary stage: to define the functions of art for one's own intentions.  To dare to be oneself in expressing one's own uniqueness is to dare to use a particular art form in a very personal way.

Picasso expressed his thinking and feeling in a very personal way in Guernica.

What was Picasso saying and feeling in his painting using this particular art style?
