Sagrada Familia The Masterpiece By Antoni Gaudi

Antoni Gaudi anticipated and influenced the forms and techniques of modern architectural construction of the 20th century.

His masterpiece is the church of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain.

An interesting thread is this: the crypt was built in 1884-89; the Nativity facade was completed in 1905; the four fantastic bell towers were completed in 1925-30; the transept elevation of the Passion started in 1960, continues as with the other sections of the church well into the early 21st century

The following pictures (from sources too diverse and obscure to acknowledge appreciation and thanks individually) give an overview of the range and technical complexities of the built works.

He was motivated with continuing the use of traditional elements with adaptations to new concepts of design and constructions.

Gaudi's work has particular spatial qualities and playful undulating lines and harmonies of colours and materials in surfaces and sculpted features.

The interior is dramatically overwhelming with the imaginative play of light and space and ingenious furnishings to create the sense of mystery and reverence.
